Sometimes taking the first step into therapy seems so hard and sometimes it is as natural of a process as taking your next breath. People come to therapy from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs, and I strive to provide everyone who enters my counseling room with a safe and compassionate environment to enable you to comfortably express your thoughts and emotions as you work toward healing.
My name is Kara Jansen. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults. As a former teacher, former foster parent, and an adoptive parent, I have a unique perspective in working with children and teens, as well as an understanding of situations that occur with those involved in the foster care system and adoption. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, Play Therapy, and Sand Tray therapy. In addition to these therapeutic techniques, I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and other similar modalities. I offer a client-centered approach that values creating and maintaining a non-judgmental and therapeutic relationship. I utilize treatment approaches that are centered around your needs and cultural values to work toward enabling you to live a more fulfilling life. If this is the type of counselor you are looking for, then I invite you to start your journey toward healing with me at Therapy Treatment Team.
