Bio: Hello, my name is Alexandra Kirby and I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern. I’m committed to helping individuals explore their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions from a holistic perspective. My approach emphasizes the mind-body connection, recognizing that feelings such as hurt, anger, loneliness, fear, sadness, and anxiety can manifest physically as well as emotionally.
I focus on providing a warm, safe space for my clients to explore and process these difficult emotions. My practice is tailored to Millennials and Gen Z, understanding the unique challenges and experiences faced by these generations. I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues and/or who have experienced trauma. I believe in understanding how my clients experience life on a day-to-day basis. When difficult feelings arise, I work with my clients to explore how their feelings impact their daily life and how they navigate through them. By identifying patterns of thinking and recognizing how these emotions manifest in the body, my clients and I can develop adaptive ways to cope and heal. As a humanistic therapist, I prioritize client’s autonomy and individuality. I utilize a few different therapy modalities including trauma-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, internal family systems therapy and a whole lot of mindfulness! I emphasize client’s strengths and work collaboratively to empower them on their journey towards emotional well-being.
